Local Agenda 21 Youth Parliament Summer School

7 – 12 September, 2003, Kuşadası, Turkey

 

The first summer school of the Local Agenda 21 Youth Parliament was organized in August, 2003 in one of the holiday resorts of Turkey, where youth representatives not only got trained on important topics but also had the chance to participate in social, cultural, sports activities together.

 

The training sessions were held in five different days with a focus on the following themes:

 

*      Information Society, Turkey and the E-Turkey Initiative

*      Efficient use of ICT tools in urban management

*      Turkey’s position in the pre-accession process to the EU

*      Youth Programs of the European Commission

*      Project Formulation under the criterion of the European Union

*      Conflict Resolution

*      Development of Leadership Skills

*      Project Development with Practical Examples

 

Besides the trainings, the youth leaders had the opportunity to share their experiences about the improvements in their cities after the first Local Agenda 21 Youth Parliament Convention. They also discussed the implementation of the Youth Action Plan they created during the convention meeting with the representatives of the LA-21 Program National Committee, i.e. United Nations Development Program of Turkey, IULA-EMME, Prime Ministry State Planning Organization and Youth Association for Habitat and Agenda 21.
