WSSD OUTCOMES
I -
Plan of
Implementation:
Global Action Plan
of 170 articles for achieving sustainable
development goals.
Paragraphs with a focus on
youth within the Plan of Implementation are as
follows:
3.
We recognize that the implementation of the
outcomes of the Summit should benefit all,
particularly women, youth, children and
vulnerable groups. Furthermore, the
implementation should involve all relevant
actors through partnerships, especially between
Governments of the North and South, on the one
hand, and between Governments and major groups,
on the other, to achieve the widely shared goals
of sustainable development. As reflected in the
Monterrey Consensus, such partnerships are key
to pursuing sustainable development in a
globalizing world.
14 (d) Develop awareness-raising programmes on
the importance of sustainable production and
consumption patterns, particularly among youth
and the relevant segments in all countries,
especially in developed countries, through,
inter alia, education, public and consumer
information, advertising and other media, taking
into account local, national and regional
cultural values.
42. (k) Encourage and enable all stakeholders to
contribute to the implementation of the
objectives of the Convention, and in particular
recognize the specific role of youth, women and
indigenous and local communities in conserving
and using biodiversity in a sustainable way.
119.bis (c) Provide technical and financial
assistance to developing countries, including
through the strengthening of capacity-building
efforts, such as the United Nations Development
Programme capacity 21 programme, to develop the
capacity of civil society, including youth, to
participate, as appropriate, in designing,
implementing and reviewing sustainable
development policies and strategies at all
levels.
170. Promote and support youth participation in
programmes and activities relating to
sustainable development through, for example,
supporting local youth councils or their
equivalent, and by encouraging their
establishment where they do not exist.
II -
Political
Declaration:
General
commitments on sustainable development adopted
by the governments
III -
Partnership Initiatives (known as the Type II
outcomes):
Partnerships
developed by the participation of various
stakeholders on diverse subjects related to
sustainable development. Opportunities to
develop partnerships for sustainable development
continues. Submissions of partnerships after the
Summit will be considered in the follow-up
process.
